Dear Amwell Valley Residents,
We are beginning out 2009 Fund Drive and are asking for your support. Our 2007 fund drive was very successful due to your generosity and we hope the 2009 Fund Drive will be just as successful.
The firehouse is owned, operated, and maintained by the Amwell Valley Fire Company, which is a volunteer organization.
Nearly all the contributions received for the 2007 fund drive went for the purchase and installation of a large generator at the rear of the firehouse. The generator provides electricity during times of power outage. The firehouse has been designated as an emergency shelter and base of operations for first responders during all emergencies, The firehouse has also been selected, by the U.S. Government, as a temporary post office for the East Amwell coverage area in the event of any emergency that requires the Post office to vacate its present location. The addition of this generator ensures the uninterrupted operation of this important emergency center.
The fund drive money received in 2005 was used to install a large 30,000 gallon water tank in the rear of the firehouse. This tank is used to protect the village of Ringoes and is also used to supply water for our tankers when responding to fires in East Amwell.
No taxpayer money was used for any of the above projects. Funding was completely provided from the contributions of our residents and this money was used to protect those residents. So again in 2009, we are asking for your help in raising funds to maintain the high level of fire protection that our volunteer organization provides.
In 2009 we plan to use the contributions from the fund drive to construct a new building at the rear of the firehouse. Within the next few years, this building will house at least one new fire truck. New fire trucks are too tall to fit under the present doors of the firehouse so, after several architects reviewed the present building, it was decided that the most cost effective solution was to build an auxiliary building. The Amwell Valley Fire Company will not be receiving any financing or bonds for this new building. We intend to pay cash.
We thank you for your past contributions and hope you will support us again this year. Make your checks payable to the Amwell Valley Fire Company Fund Drive. You may mail your donation to the Amwell Valley Fire Company Fund Drive, P.O. Box 50, Ringoes, N.J. 08551

A major delay in the response of rescue, police and fire personnel in the time of need can be created by missing or poorly visible house and mailbox numbers. These problems are compounded at night when house numbers cannot be seen and emergency personnel miss your home and either continue looking or have to turn around and come back. These delays during a medical emergency can be a matter of life and death.
